TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - NAMIWalks started off with a bang Saturday, April 26, as people got set to go, for mental health.
This annual walk raises money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Kansas , offering mental health support services to individuals throughout the state.
The gathering also highlighted the experiences of individuals impacted by mental illness. Multiple booths provided information and additional support materials.
A representative from NAMI emphasized some of the initiatives the group undertakes in this area.
“We offer free resources and assistance to those facing difficulties due to mental health conditions,” explained Isaac Johnson, who oversees operations at NAMI Kansas. “This includes individuals directly affected by such issues, regardless of diagnosis, along with their families, friends, partners, and caregivers. All our services come without charge. Our organization provides support groups as well as educational initiatives.”
