East Hartford Health Workers Lead Drug Take-Back Event

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Healthcare workers and emergency responders gathered unused prescription medications with the aim of stopping unfortunate incidents from occurring.

Local residents stated that National Drug Take-Back Day helps fight against the opioid crisis.

It’s about removing excess medication from households where it might be misused, which is a significant win for our community," stated Public Health Educator and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Julia Maurer. "Moreover, it provides the community with access to essential resources enabling them to handle medications more safely, properly discard unused drugs, and avoid medication abuse.
