What we knowAt ThriveOn King, mental health remains a primary focus as men came forward to share both their recent accomplishments and sources of stress in their personal lives.
Shannon Reed stated, “It’s not just a secure environment; it’s also managed in such a manner that ensures exceptional professionalism.” She added, “Individuals feel at ease here, with their muscles visibly more relaxed, allowing them to openly share what they’re experiencing—whether it be positive or challenging moments—and express their search for resources accordingly.”

The mental stimulation activity was one among many featured during the IMMENSE Wellness event held on Saturday morning, April 26th. According to Community Group Social X, they organized this gathering with the aim of assisting men of color in fortifying their mentality, physique, financial standing, and various aspects of life.
Local perspectiveDuring his presentation called "Digging for Joy," professional counselor Cedric Dale Hoard encourages these men to use positive self-talk.
He stated, 'Feeling sad isn’t necessarily negative. It’s different from clinical depression,' he explained. ‘When I begin to experience sadness, it’s fine. But as soon as I tell myself I’m not truly a man, that I’ve failed, or that I am inadequate, that’s where we run into problems.’
Thanks to the speakers, these men are encouraged to watch out for one another and themselves.
Many men of color are conditioned to hold their feelings inside," stated Ryan Roberts. "The data clearly indicates that bottling up emotions always has negative consequences for us.

Kyle Hayden is employed at MATC and he brought along some students.
What was shared includes knowledge, information, and wisdom," Hayden stated. "I am hopeful that this will help them discover aspects of themselves which they can appreciate and value.
